Joyful Melancholy, series of 8 screen prints on paper, 112 x 76cm (x8), 2018
|
Joyful Melancholy is a series of 8 screen prints. A repetition of the same image motif through the rhythmically colored and layered grid of lines (the underlying architecture of the image) - adds a second, more abstract image.
The viewer can perceive the work differently from different positions in space - from his or her own movement. The image & the 'seeing' becomes partly devoid of representation in order to become an experience as well. Joyful Melancholy evokes in this way, through the movement of colours and lines and through the repetition of the motif, the emotion - in motion. Joyful Melancholy was created during the process of screen printing the photographic image. This series of images were created over a period of several weeks. Inseparable are the technical processes that belong to the printing process and become part of the creative and conceptual creation process of the work: the matrix - the motif, the repetition - the multiple, the delay and the layering of colours. |
